Brian McLaughlin appointed trust chief exec

Our charitable arm Greenock Morton Community Trust have today confirmed the appointment of Brian McLaughlin as their new chief executive.

Brian, 32, has been a key figure in Morton in the Community’s development since he was appointed assistant community engagement manager to Tom Elliott back in August 2014.

With employability manager Gordon McKillop recently moving on to pastures new, the trust’s board of directors decided to promote Brian to the role of CEO with immediate effect.

In this new senior post, the former Greenock Juniors defender will oversee day to day operations as well as guiding the overall direction of the organisation as he aims to further their growth in the years to come.

A proud Brian said: “I am absolutely delighted to be announced as the chief executive of Morton in the Community.

“Since I joined Morton in the Community just over four and a half years ago, I have been honoured to see our growth and progression across sport, health, education and employability.

“We have a fantastic group of staff and volunteers who work tirelessly every day to provide opportunities to all residents of Inverclyde to progress and develop under the Greenock Morton badge.

“I am excited and privileged to be given the opportunity to continue our good work and keep Morton in the Community as ‘The Heartbeat of Inverclyde.’

“Lastly, I am always open to new partnerships and potential areas of growth and would urge anyone to get in touch to discuss all things Morton in the Community further.”
