We are pleased to report that Gregor Buchanan has today signed a contract with the club until June 2019.
The 28-year-old centre-half put pen to paper on a deal at Cappielow this afternoon and becomes manager Ray McKinnon’s third signing this week.
Buchanan, who featured for both St Mirren and Livingston last season making a combined total of 27 appearances, joins us here on the back of a successful season after helping Livingston gain promotion to the Ladbrokes Premiership via the playoffs.
The Greenock gaffer has spoken very highly of the defender’s abilities and insists that the squad is now starting to grow its shape.
Speaking to gmfc.net this afternoon, the Ton boss said “We have signed Gregor Buchanan and I am delighted to have this opportunity of bringing him to the club”.
“I think Gregor is a player who has came leaps and bounds and he has impressed me over the last couple of years, especially last season with both St Mirren and Livingston”.
“I’m sure he would have had a number of other clubs interested; he’s a very talented player and talented players always attract attention from other clubs.”
“But he was very happy to sign and from that aspect of things, we were delighted that he made that commitment to join us here.”
It has been a productive week with Chris Millar, Derek Gaston and now Buchanan all agreeing deals.
McKinnon has been pleased with the business thus far and added: “With the players we have brought in this week along with those still here I feel the squad is now coming together”.
“We are obviously looking to bring quality to the club as I said before and having guys like Gregor on board will help us in our efforts to achieve that.”
