Interview with Thomas OWare

Biography

Thomas O’Ware hails from Irvine and started his footballing apprenticeship at Murray Park with Rangers youth setup, moving on to Kilmarnock for a couple of years before joining Bonnyton Thistle where he won a winners medal in the under nineteens Scottish Cup Final.

He has also represented Scotland at schoolboy level in a 2-2 draw with Northern Ireland in 2011.

He was spotted by Morton youth setup stalwart Mick Rankin and brought in on a one year youth contract and had played only 3 matches for our youth teams when an injury to then regular left back meant he got an early call up to first team duties, making his debut in a 5-1 Scottish cup victory over Deveronvale. That was in November 2011 and he went on to make 14 appearances for the first team before a stress fracture of his tibia put him out contention for a time although he did come back for the end of the season.

Essentially, a central defender, Thomas did well for the club at left back being comfortable with the ball on either foot. Whilst he remains a member of the first team squad, Thomas is very much involved in our burgeoning youth setup being developed by Warren Hawke.
